Summary: As much as they hate crossing each other's paths, they keep bumping into each other because their best friends are married. What’s worse is when something unexpected happens and they need to stay together for the sake of little girl named Lily.
Author's Note: Have you seen the movie "Life As We Know It" ? Yes? Then it's like that. This whole fic is dedicated tofloppy_snoopi :)
It's been 3 years since Ueda Tatsuya, 28, has been on a date. His previous boyfriend left him to another man and since then, he decided to focus on his career as a wedding organizer. He decided to agree on this blind date because of his best friend, Horikita Maki.
It's been 3 days since Nishikido Ryo, 27, last got laid. He felt like he has to sleep with someone new. He told his best friend, Yamashita Tomohisa, about it and he said he'll get Ryo "someone new".
It was a Friday night and a date was set. Tatsuya spent over an hour in dressing up and preparing for the night. His blind date was supposed to pick him up at 7pm and it's already 6:45. He finally settled with a pair of fitted jeans, and oversized white shirt and a black vest. He sat down his couch waiting.
He waited and waited. Grabbed a magazine and watched TV but his date still hasn't arrived. He was about to call Maki in case it was cancelled but before he can find his phone in his bag, the doorbell rang. He stood up to check who it is and when he opened the door, a dashing guy, not taller than him, stood in his faded jean, V-neck shirt and leather jacket.
"Are you, Ryo?" Tatsuya asked.
"Uhm, yeah but I prefer Nishikido." Ryo said.
"Oh. Okay. I'm Tatsuya, Ueda Tatsuya." Tatsuya said and offered his hand which Ryo awkwardly took.
"So, you've been waiting long?" Ryo asked.
"No. Not really, just--an hour."
"An hour? Excited?"
"Oh God, no. Yamapi said you'll be here by 7."
"Really? He told me to pick you up at 8."
"A little misunderstanding then."
"I guess so."
There was awkward silence.
"I think we should get going." Ryo said.
"Oh, yeah. Let's go." Tatsuya said.
They headed to the elevator and went to the parking. The whole journey down was filled with awkward silence. Once out, Tatsuya began asking questions while walking and looking for Ryo's car.
"How long have you and Yamapi known each other?" He asked.
"Since we were little. We lived next to each other and went to the same school 'til high school."
"Oh really? Maki and I met in college. We met through or school organization and we've been best friends ever since."
"Oh, okay."
"So what do you do?" Tatsuya asked.
"Me? I work at a restaurant." Ryo answered.
"Manager or what?"
"As an assistant chef."
"That's amazing!"
"It's just a small restaurant in the city. You?"
"I'm a wedding organizer. I have my own little shop which I run with a few friends. Where's your car anyways?" Tatsuya asked as he and Ryo are now in the parking for motorcycles.
"Uhhh, I don't have a car. I only have my bike." Ryo said and pointed out his motorcycle.
He pulled out two helmets. He wore one and handed one to Tatsuya before taking his position in his bike.
"Here you go. Don't worry, I'll drive safely. You can hold my waist and I won't think of anything more." Ryo said as he started the engine.
He was waiting for Tatsuya to take his place but the other just stood there.
"Is there a problem?" Ryo asked.
"I'm sorry but I can't ride that thing."
"Eh?" Ryo said as he took off his helmet, his hair slightly ruffled.
"We can take my car. Just please don't make me ride that." Tatsuya said
Ryo sighed but gave in. He took the helmet back from Tatsuya and placed them back on his motorcycle. They then made their way to Tatsuya's car.
"Wow, this place sure is small." Ryo said when he got in.
"You think so? Well, it's usually just me who's riding. So, where are we headed? Where did you make your reservations?"
"Reservations?" Ryo asked looking confused.
"You don't have one do you? Maki said you already made one."
"What? No--"
Ryo's cell phone begin to ring.
"Go ahead and take it." Tatsuya said.
"Oh,no, no. It's fine. It'll turn off any minute so, where do you want to go, I'm sure we can just walk-in and get a seat." Ryo said.
"Well, I was thinking---"
The ringing didn't stop and it really bothers Tatsuya.
"You can really answer that. I really don't mind." Tatsuya said.
"Okay."
Ryo fished out his cell phone and answered it. He spoke in a whisper.
"Yes? Yeah. I'm out. What time's the party? 11? Okay, I'll be there by 10. I'll just get this over with." Ryo told the person from the other line then hang up.
"Who was it?" Tatsuya asked.
"Oh, my uncle. He's sick and I need to go and check on him as soon as we're done."
Tatsuya was just silent.
"Let's go." Ryo said and pulled his seatbelt on.
Tatsuya gave a deep sigh and took off his seatbelt.
"What? I just put mine on? Did you leave something in your unit?"Ryo said.
"Let's not pretend, okay? We both know this is not working out." Tatsuya suddenly said.
"What do you mean?"
"Oh come one, Nishikido. Don't play dumb with me! I know you're not enjoying this so just get out of the car and go have a party with your friend!" Tatsuya snapped.
Tatsuya got out of the car and slammed the door. Ryo followed.
"Hey! I was doing you a favor, okay?" Ryo said.
"A favor? Really? I can manage by myself, thank you very much!" Tatsuya shouted as he walked back to the elevator.
"Now I know why you haven't got laid all these years! You're such a girl!"
"Oh Please! You're so unoriginal and correction, I'm GAY, okay? I'm better than a stupid fucking girl!" Tatsuya said.
Ryo clicked his tongue and walked to his bike and left while Tatsuya got his phone and dialed Maki's number while walking back.
"Hello? Maki? What were you thinking setting me up with that jerk?" Tatsuya asked.
"So, it didn't go well?" Maki asked.
"Do I sound like I had fun? I never want to see that bastard again, you got it?!"
A/N II: SOOO EXCITED TO WRITE THIS! I was actually beginning to give up on Hime-sama fic but I told myself that I can't write this prologue unless I update Hime-sama.
Glad to say, while I was updating, every scene that comes next flashed through my mind and I now have a good idea of what will happen next in that fic. I can write this fic and Hime-sama in alternate mode. :D and yes, Nishikido Ryo vs the World is still on hiatus. COMMENT PLEASE.
